Tomas Scheckter has only won 2 races in his
career at Texas Motor Speedway and at Michigan International Speedway.
but has not won a championship in his career.
Helio Castroneves is the Spiderman of the IRL
and is also a 2-time Indy 500 Champion.
Vitor Meira is an IRL Driver who
hasn't had the best of luck with winning because he has finished 2nd
five times in his career.
Buddy Lazier is an IRL driver who won the
Indy 500 in 1996 edging Davy Jones by just a little bit.
Sam Hornish Jr. is the 2006 Indy 500
Champion and beat Marco Andretti on the final lap getting to the line. He has also won 2 Championships in his career.
Bryan Herta is a native of Michigan and
in 2005 he won his 2nd career race at his favorite place
"Michigan International Speedway."
Scott Sharp was the first ever
Champion in the INDY Racing League in 1996 and won his Ninth race of
his career at the Kentucky Speedway last year.
Scott Dixon won the 2003 Championship
and is also the only driver to win at Watkins Glen International Road
Course with 2 wins in 2 races.
Dan Wheldon is the only driver in the IRL
to win the IRL Championship and the Indy 500 in the same year in 2005
along with the most wins of 6 total victories.
Tony Kanaan won the Championship in
2004 and also is a very sneaky driver when it's a Green flag on the
start or a restart because he'll just take away 3 or 4 positions
before the first turn.
Felipe Giaffone has only one win in his
career that came at Kentucky Speedway in 2002.
Buddy Rice is the 2004 Indy 500 Champion
and also had a scary flip at Chicagoland Speedway that he survived and
still drives to this day from it.
Danica Patrick is the most popular driver
in the IRL because everywhere fans look at a racetrack most of them
are by Danica Patrick getting autographs.
Jeff Simmons won at the
Milwaukee Mile last year for the Indy Pro Series and now is in the IRL.
Ed Carpenter is not the best
driver in the IRL but he did get a best finish of sixth this year at
Watkins Glen International.
Marco Andretti is the son of the
great Michael Andretti and the grandson of 1969 Indy 500 Champ Mario
Andretti. He also almost became the youngest driver in history at 19
years old to win an Indy 500 but instead got beat by Sam Hornish Jr.
Dario Franchitti is an IRL driver who has
won 4 races in his career the most recent one came at a very close
finish at California in 2005.
Eddie Cheever Jr. won the Indy 500 in
1998 and was a car owner of two race teams from 2003-2005.
Kosuke Matsuura was the 2004 Bombardier
Rookie of the Year for the IRL
P.J. Chesson is competing for the
Bombardier rookie of the year in 2006.
